Under high temperature and pressure, the potassium persulfate oxidation digestion solution and water sample convert various nitrogen-containing compounds in the water sample into nitrate through potassium persulfate oxidation digestion. Under acidic conditions, a reaction occurs with the color reagent, producing a light yellow complex, where the intensity of the color is directly proportional to the nitrogen content in the sample. The absorbance value of the reaction product is measured using photometry, thereby determining the total nitrogen content in the sample.
